叶新田博士新书推介礼:新纪元学院院长潘永忠博士发言稿

感谢主办单位,让我有机会在今天叶新田博士新书推介礼上,发表一些想法。这部书共分为四册。第一册研讨与介绍古代中国思想典籍,其中包括《大学》、《中庸》、《孙子兵法》与《道德经》。第二册则分析这些不同学派思想如何可以实践于现代之企业管理。第三册主要收录叶博士选译之马华文学作品,以及叶博士接受马来杂志畅谈董教总捍卫华教之访谈录。最后一册则是传奇人物白求恩医生之传记。这套书的特色在于中文与马来文双语并用,尤其是使用马来文介绍中华典籍与马华文学,非常罕见与难能可贵。我相信,此书可供马来读者更加了解中华文化与思想,以及董教总之角色,最终促进族群之间的文化交流。作为董总暨董教总教育中心主席,身负重任的叶新田博士依然勤于著述,这套书籍的出版尤显珍贵。

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, very good morning to you!

It is my pleasure to be here today in this book launching event. I would like to thank the organizer for giving me the opportunity to say a few words for the new book entitled “Zhonghua Humanistic Ideology and Modern Management (中华人文思想与现代管理)” authored by Dr. Yap Sin Tian.

This new book is a series, comprising 4 volumes.

The vol. 1 deals with several classical schools of thought, including Great Learning (大学) and Doctrine of the Mean (中庸) from Confucius, Sunzi Art of War (孙子兵法) and Dao De Jing (道德经) from Laozi. These different schools of thought constitute the critical part of Chinese culture and philosophy for several 1000 years, even today.

The vol. 2 focuses on how these different schools of thought are associated with today’s modern management.

In vol. 3, it discusses the translation and communication of Malaysian Chinese literatures, and emphasizes on the pivotal role of Dong Jiao Zong in defending Chinese education in Malaysia, via the exclusive interview of Dr. Yap with the Malay magazine “MASA”.

The vol. 4 deals with the legendary life of Dr. Norman Bethune (白求恩), a Canadian physician and medical innovator who had served in the medical unit in China during the 2nd Sino-Japanese War. He has been viewed by the Chinese government and people as a model of internationalism, courage, devotion, and determination.

The unique part of these books is that each of the first 3 volumes (vol. 1-3) is published in both Chinese and Malay languages, while the vol. 4 is published in Malay language. Although the literatures and knowledge carried by the book are commonly available in Chinese and English languages, its translation version of Malay language is relatively uncommon.

I believe this book series will provide our Malay friends with many useful insights into the Chinese culture and philosophy, and the role Dong Jiao Zong in defending Chinese education in this country. As a result, it may lead to a better understanding between Chinese and Malays, thereby promoting cultural interaction and exchange between the two races, and strengthening social stability in Malaysia.

For the past two years, I have been working with Dr. Yap, who serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dong Jiao Zong Higher Learning Centre Bhd, and the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia. These two organizations oversee the operation and development of Chinese education, ranging from primary schools, high schools to tertiary education, in this country. As a dedicated leader of the organizations with heavy responsibility, the capability of Dr. Yap to publish this important book series is phenomenal. Last, but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Yap for publishing this excellent book series.
