新纪元大学学院升格典礼暨学士课程推介仪式

董教总教育中心非营利有限公司董事会主席叶新田博士，新纪元大学学院理事会主席林忠强博士，各位来宾，各位媒体朋友，大家早上好！
各位，我想跟大家說的第一句話是：我们正在迈向新的纪元。新紀元終於升格大學學院了。
未来，我们可以在更宽广的格局里，实现“从小学、中学到大学完整母语教育体系”的理想。这是一个非常难得的历史契机。
各位，新紀元升格以後，在原有的精神基础之上，我们应当开拓新的天地。过去数十年来，“华文高教”的理想无疑是为了建立具有民族特色的大专院校，以应对整体华文教育发展的需求。
今天我们迎来了一个发展的新机运。我们的问题未必可以因此一扫而空，但至少我们正在前进的道路上。华文高教新一页开始了，我们应当要有新思维、新作风，努力办好一所大学，巩固华文教育旧有基础，再造民办大专新的气象。
今天的新纪元，已经开始展现新的气象。由于过去的努力，我们在等待升格的过程中，新纪元各个科系已经筹划多项学士课程的开办，并且已经将这些设计完善教学内容完整的十多项学士课程提交到MQA和高教部，作出申请。目前为止，已经有九项新的学士课程获得批准。所以，三个月前当我们获得高教部批准的大学学院执照之后，我们马上开办这九项学士课程。现在这些课程正在开放给高中毕业生报读，反应热烈。这些课程包括：
1， 中文学士课程
2 ，幼儿教育学士课程
3 ，应用华语教育学士课程
4 ，视觉传达荣誉学士课程
5 ，软体工程荣誉学士课程
6 ，网络科技荣誉学士课程
7 ，商业行政荣誉学士课程
8 ，金融与会计荣誉学士课程
9 ，咨商与心理学荣誉学士课程
未来，还会有更多的学士课程，陆续有来，以造福莘莘学子，希望更多学生可以在新纪元大学学院完成学士学位。
新纪元大学学院办学认真，我们不是商业挂帅的学校，办学目的绝对不是为了获取盈利，我们是为了办学而办学，为了培养人才而办学，为了国家和社会大众而办学。未来，我们会针对华社的需求，设计各种不同的学科和课程，并且结合我们跟东南亚各国、中国大陆、港台地区、英国、纽西兰，以及正在积极开发中的东亚区域日本和韩国等地的姐妹校的良好关系，让马来西亚华裔子弟，学有所长的同时，也有机会从马来西亚走向东南亚各国，走向东亚的中国大陆和港台，以及日本与韩国，甚至走向西方和全世界。
除了这些学士课程，我们正在物色资深的学者、资深的教授加入新纪元服务，我们希望未来可以开办硕士和博士课程，不仅招收我们马来西亚的子弟前来就读，我们也计划开放给东南亚和东亚，尤其中国大陆的年轻一代，透过新纪元走入马来西亚，透过马来西亚走入东南亚。在这个属于亚洲的新世纪，随着中国的崛起，东亚和东南亚这些区域日益重要，我们会善用马来西亚华文教育稳固的基础，以及多元文化多元语文的优势，在一带一路的时代里，把握时机，培养优秀人才，造福我们的民族和国家。

We are moving towards a new era.New Era College has finally
been upgraded from the status of College to University College. On the basis of
our original intention, we should open up new
We should have new way of thinking and new style to run a university college.
We should consolidate the foundation of Chinese education, to reconstruct and
to instil new elements into this private higher learning institution.
New Era University College is entering a new phase in its
history. The hard work of the past few years, when we were waiting patiently
for upgrading from college to university college status, has allowed different
academic departments to get ready their respective Bachelor degree programmes.
These have been well planned for submission to the Malaysian Quality Agency
(MQA) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) for approval. Hence, although
it is only three months ago that we obtained the University College licence, we
are now able to launch nine new degree programmes. These programmes are now made
available to suitably qualified students and the response has been most
encouraging. These programmes include the following:
1. Bachelor of Chinese Literature and
Language
2. Bachelor in Early Childhood Education
3. Bachelor in the Teaching of Chinese
as a Second Language with Honours
4. Bachelor in Visual Communications
with Honours
5. Bachelor in Software Engineering with
Honours
6. Bachelor in Network Technology with
Honours
7. Bachelor in Business Administration
with Honours
8. Bachelor in Finance and Accounting
with Honours
9. Bachelor in Counselling and
Psychology with Honours
More such programmes will be introduced from year to year to
benefit students and to attract more students to complete their courses in New
Era University College.
The mission of New Era University College is to make
available university education to all who are qualified. We do not manage and
run this University College as a commercial concern, and definitely not for
profit making. Instead, the aim is to provide higher education, to nurture and
train young talents, and to serve the needs of society and country. Future
plans will be tailored to the needs of all communities so that different areas
of study will be made available to meet the increasing demands of students.
We will widen our linkages and co-operation with
universities in China and the territories of Hong Kong and Taiwan, England, New
Zealand and, in the near future, with universities in Japan, Korea and other
Southeast Asian Countries. Our students will be able to reach out to, and to
learn from, these countries and territories, and eventually to reach out to the
West and the world.
Apart from Bachelor degree programmes, we are working hard
to recruit experienced scholars and professors to strengthen our academic
staff. We are actively planning to launch programmes at the Masters and Doctor
of Philosophy levels not only for Malaysian students but also those from
Southeast Asia and China.
In this new century that belongs to Asia, and following the
upsurge in the economic power of China and the immense opportunities arising
from the Belt and Road Initiative, New Era University College, with its
multi-lingual and multi-cultural advantages, will be able to seize the moment,
and to contribute to the nurturing of talents and the prosperity of the country
and society.
