各位来宾、各位同学、
各位家长以及各位媒体朋友，大家早上好。
今天是我们第十八届的毕业典礼，我和在座诸位何其有幸，一同见证我们的毕业生完成学业，即将步出校园，走向更广阔的天地。恭喜在座的每一位毕业生，以及每一位家长，这是一个欢欣喜悦的时刻，年轻人学有所成，社会国家多了一批栋梁之材，我们大家都觉得非常安慰与自豪。
各位，
在这个欢欣与喜悦的时刻，我们还有一个大好喜讯要向各位宣布。前几天，我们收到马来西亚高等教育部的通知，新纪元正式获得批准升格为大学学院。大家多年来的努力终于开花结果，这是值得大事庆祝的好消息。
各位，
皇天不负有心人，我们终于达成升格大学学院的目标。新纪元的升格是华教的大事，深受全体华社的关注。从南大到独大，再到新纪元，华社从未放弃华文大学的理想。董教总教育中心一直为了新纪元的创办以及升格而努力。经过多年的艰苦奋斗，我们终于升格大学学院，在铁树开花的道路上向前跨进了一大步。
为迎接新院升格，董事部同人也早有准备，对新院硬体设备的提升成立了建校委员会及应对发展需求的筹款委员会。在迎接喜讯到来的同时，我们也作好建设和发展新纪元大学学院的准备。
各位，
升格大学学院是一个崭新阶段的开始，董教总教育中心董事部知道我们今后的责任更加重大，我们必须扩大新纪元的发展格局，无论软体或硬体，都必须精益求精，做得更好。新纪元升格大学学院以后，我们的信心大大提升了。数十年来，华教从华小到独中都已经办出了属于自己的特色。我们在政府单元政策中强调多元文化和多种语文教学，事实证明，这不但使华校生拥有比较突出的多语优势和文化适应能力，同时，也使我们子弟在视野上更开阔，态度上更实事求是，我们的学生无论在国内外升学或就业都有比较高的竞争力。新纪元作为华教的重要一环，办学理念也是以多元开放挂帅。在国内大专院校中，这是我们最大的特色。升格以后的新纪元必须继续保持原有特色，让学生具有更大的优势，来面对国内国外日益激烈的竞争。
各位，
我们希望未来开设更多符合国家社会需求的新科系，培养各种各样具有多元思维，多元文化能力的专才。我们也希望招揽更多优秀的专家学者为新纪元服务，提升我们大学学院的学术水平。我们必须确保新纪元具有本身的办学特色，在竞争越来越激烈的高等教育领域里，站稳脚步，甚至脱颖而出。当然，我们知道这不是容易的事，但令人庆幸的是，我们华教队伍里一直有一些热心的同道非常关心新纪元的发展，无私为新纪元奉献，脚踏实地为新纪元做事。我相信，在大家的协助下，新纪元必定会一天比一天茁壮成长。
鉴于新纪元学院近年来在艰苦中奋斗和发展，董教总教育中心董事部同人在风雨如晦的华教运动中，毅然再次主办华团新春大团拜，联合百多个华团联办丁酉年（2017年）的新春大团拜，日期是二月十二日中午12时至下午3时，目前报名参加者非常踊跃，估计包巴士来参加者将达20部以上，人数应有2000-3000人。在此我们吁请新院的全体学生、家长及教职员等，当天一起来参与其盛。
时光匆匆，新纪元的开办，即将迈入第十九个年头，十九年来，我们历经千辛万苦，今天新纪元终于升格大学学院，我们的努力总算没有白费。在此，我必须感谢这一路走来，跟我们风雨同行的董事和理事们，以及广大的热爱华教人士。当然，我们也要感谢多年来一直忠心至诚、认真服务的新纪元教职员；没有教职员的认真付出，新纪元不会有今天的成绩。我们知道，新纪元的创办，就是要在多元族群社会中建构完善的马来西亚华文教育体系。虽然马来西亚眼前的政治动荡、经济波动、人心思变，但是我们始终要坚守岗位，站稳教育的立场，推动新纪元大学学院的发展，提升马来西亚华文大专教育的水平和素质。
董教总教育中心是新纪元大学学院的董事会。这个董事会不仅承担监督与发展新纪元大学院，也肩负我国华教高等教育发展的重任。与此同时，教育中心在推广高等教育，与中国汉办密切合作推广汉语教育，多年来作为东南亚华文教育学研讨会秘书处也正在加强在东南亚华文教育发展的积极协调。际此大马华文教育危机重担又有契机的时刻，我们应该坚持立场，继续努力，在高等教育方面作出贡献。
新纪元大学学院是由广大华社所创办，也受到我国各族人民的支持，它应该开放给华社，回归社会，为国民培育高等教育人才，为社会做贡献，才能得到人民支持。
各位同学
新纪元大学学院承载着华社的期盼，新纪元的毕业生也让人多一份的期许。我相信各位能够刻苦学习，未来也将会努力工作、贡献社会。
我希望大家立身处世能够谨言慎行，以诚待人，同时也能以诚待己，诚实认真对待人生、家庭、社会、国家，不辜负师长们的循循善诱，以及广大热爱华文教育人士的付出和期待。我们就以热烈的掌声，祝福所有的毕业生，也祝福所有的家长与教职员。
恭祝各位新年进步、身体健康、万事如意！谢谢。

Distinguished Guests, Students, Parents, Members of the Press,
a very good morning to all of you.
Today is our 18th
graduation ceremony, we are indeed fortunate to witness this joyous moment,
where our graduates are about to step out of the campus and join the wider
world. Congratulations to all graduates and their parents.
Ladies and gentlemen,
In this moment of
gladness, we have good news for you. A few days ago, we received a formal
approval from the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) for New Era College to be
upgraded to the status of University College (UC). New Era College is now New
Era University College (NEUC)! Our efforts over the past years finally have
yielded positive results. What a piece of good news!
Ladies and gentlemen,
Somehow, at last, all
things pay off. We have made it! We are now upgraded to UC! As a Chinese idiom
goes, “the iron tree blooms”, we are now witnessing an extremely rare event
occurring before our eyes. From Nanyang University, Merdeka University Bhd, New
Era College, to New Era University College (NEUC), our commitment to the
preservation and promotion of the Chinese education in Malaysia always drive us
to a greater height through hard times.
As we upgraded to the
status of UC, we are entering a new phase. The Board of Directors of Dong Jiao
Zong Higher Learning Centre Bhd knows that our responsibilities are even more
crucial in the future. Our development needs justification of expansion to
support NEUC, be it infrastructure or teaching programs. Also, we need to build
on strength based on our excellent performance in the past. With diversity,
openness, as well as multilingual teaching environment, we will be moulding
individuals and nurturing talents that are comparatively more competitive in
the future.
We hope to open more
new departments, recruit more outstanding academics to uplift NEUC standards,
in line with the future needs of Malaysian society. This is not an easy task.
Fortunately, we have always had some enthusiastic comrades who are very
concerned and dedicated to the development of New Era.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Time rushes by. NEUC is
now marching into the 19th year after struggling through lots of challenges and
stages of developments. Today, I wish to thank those who have been working
along to make NEUC a reality - the board of directors, the Chinese community,
and the dedicated New Era staff. I hope we can always uphold our beliefs in
providing quality education and preserving a comprehensive mother tongue
education system in a multi-ethnic society. I believe that with the assistance
of everyone, NEUC will be able to grow stronger.
Dear students,
From the moment you
entered New Era, your lives have changed tremendously, with holistic education
and multiculturalism, as well as the mission of the Chinese community on
quality higher education. As your studies have come to an end, just be prepared
to set yourself up to do your best in serving the communities and the country.
Lastly, my best wishes
for all graduates, parents, the faculty and the management of NEUC. I wish you
good health, abundant of good luck and success in the coming year. Happy Chinese
New Year! Thank you.
